Configure CD and SD Legacy Printers for Cloud Printing
Use the Entrust Cloud Ready Utility v1.6 or v1.7 to add a Factory Manufacturing Certificate to CD and SD legacy printers released 2015-2020 with D3.18.4-3 firmware to enable cloud printing upon onboarding to Instant ID as a Service.
Note: Ensure the minimum D3.18.4-3 firmware version has been installed on compatible printers (SD260L, SD360, SD460, CD800, CD820, CE840, and CE870) before running the Cloud Ready Utility. Version 1.6 of the Cloud Ready utility adds support for cloud enrollment of self-signed D3-based printers, enabling printers with firmware D3.18.4-3 to connect to cloud. It requires all compatible printers to have the D3.18.4-3 firmware update before enrolling them, including printers with existing Entrust certificates. Customers wishing not to enroll D3-based printers with Entrust certificates and not update their firmware to D3.18.4-3 can instead use Cloud Ready Utility v1.5. For instructions, refer to Configure CD and SD Legacy Printers for Cloud Printing with Cloud Ready Utility 1.5.
Perform the following steps before onboarding a CD and SD printer with D3.18.4-3 firmware to Instant ID as a Service:
- Request the Cloud Ready Utility v1.6 or v1.7 from your MSP (Managed Service Provider).
- Install the Cloud Ready Utility.
- Run the executable for the Cloud Ready Utility. The Entrust Cloud Ready Utility window appears.
- In the IP field, enter the IP address of a printer then click Connect. The Cloud Ready Utility connects to the printer and displays the printer network information.
- Verify in the Cloud Ready Utility that "AppVersion=D3.18.4-3" displays to confirm the required firmware upgrade has been applied.
- Click Setup Cloud. The Cloud Location dialog box opens.
- Choose the printer's Cloud Location and click Select.
- (Optional) Export the PEM Self-Signed Certificate.
Note: PEM Self-Signed Certificates are required only for CD and SD legacy printers that do not have a Factory Manufacturing Certificate and fall within certain manufacturing date and serial number ranges. These printers and their details are listed in the Instant IDaaS-004 Knowledge Article on TrustedCare.com, which requires a username and password for access. If you do not have access, contact your MSP.- Select True in the dialog box.
- Click the Select button. The Save Public PEM dialog box appears.
- Choose a location in which to save the .PEM file.
- Click Save in the dialog box.
- Verify the Cloud Ready Utility displays "PASSED" to indicate the cloud configuration was successful.
